What is a landing page?
A landing page is a purpose-built target page where visitors arrive after clicking an ad, a newsletter or a QR code. It pursues exactly one goal—such as an inquiry, booking or sign-up—and steers everything toward that single action.

Landing page: definition and purpose
The term describes arrival: a landing page is the page where visitors to a campaign first “land.” Unlike a website’s home page, it addresses a specific audience with a concrete need and deliberately offers only a few paths—ideally only the one to the desired action, the conversion.
Landing pages are used for ads on Google or social networks, for newsletters, trade show promotions, recruiting campaigns or to introduce a single service. They can be part of the company website or run as a standalone page at their own address. In Google Ads, the quality of the target page also feeds into the ad’s rating.
How a good landing page is built
Effective target pages follow a clear dramaturgy: the headline picks up the promise of the ad, below it the page explains the benefit, addresses typical objections and leads to a clearly visible call to action. Consistency between ad and page is important, because it decides whether visitors stay. If you advertise “Heating maintenance bookable now,” the headline should say exactly that, not leave visitors searching for it.
- A clear headline with the benefit promise from the ad
- Short, concrete arguments instead of long running text
- Proof such as reviews, references or certificates
- A single, clearly visible call to action
- A short form with only the necessary fields
- Fast loading time, especially on smartphones
Real-world example: a heating contractor’s maintenance campaign
A heating contractor wants to sell maintenance contracts before the heating season and runs Google ads for it. Instead of the general home page, every click leads to a target page that explains only the maintenance offer: services, price, customer testimonials and a short form for requesting an appointment. All other topics of the business are deliberately left out.
The effect can be measured: how many visitors come, how many submit the form, what does an inquiry cost? On that basis, the headline, layout or form can be improved step by step in A/B tests instead of deciding by gut feeling. Even small changes can noticeably shift the conversion rate.
Common mistakes and implementation
Common weaknesses are several competing calls to action, navigation that distracts from the goal, and long loading times on mobile. Tracking and integrated services must be implemented in a privacy-compliant way: analytics and advertising cookies may generally only load after consent. The privacy policy should also explain what happens to the form data.
Nano Concepts develops landing pages together with our partner agency LOMA DESIGN: copy, design, form, tracking and consent management come from a single source, including connection to your CRM if you wish. That way, inquiries land where your sales team handles them without detours, and you can see which campaign brought them.
Frequently asked questions about Landing page
The home page is the entrance to the entire website and serves many audiences and needs. A landing page addresses one audience with one goal, usually has no main navigation and leads to a single action.
That depends on scope, design, copy and integrations. Simple target pages can be built with manageable effort; elaborate pages with animations, form logic and CRM integration cost more. Nano Concepts prepares a binding quote after an initial consultation.
As few as possible: a name, one way to contact you and a brief request are often enough. Each additional required field tends to keep prospects from submitting. What you do not need right away, you can ask in conversation.
Yes. Even a single target page is a commercial online offering and needs an accessible legal notice (Impressum) and a privacy policy. If you collect data via a form or use tracking, you must also provide information and obtain consent where required.
