Short & clear

Managed Kubernetes means that a service provider takes care of setting up, updating, monitoring and securing Kubernetes clusters; the control plane is usually provided by the cloud provider, while the service provider looks after nodes, deployments and operations. Nano Concepts advises on suitability, builds clusters as infrastructure as code with GitOps and supports them in day-to-day operations. Depending on scope, consulting and setup fall under the Starter package from €2,500 or Professional from €8,000, while ongoing operations are quoted individually based on scope in the Enterprise package – the exact quote follows after the free initial consultation.

Managed Kubernetes with Nano Concepts

Managed Kubernetes is aimed at companies that want to run their applications in containers without building their own platform team. Kubernetes distributes containers across several servers, restarts failed instances and scales under load. Providers such as STACKIT, IONOS, Azure or AWS supply the control plane as a managed service. Even then, a lot remains to be done: nodes, networking, access rights, certificates, deployments, monitoring and backups. This is exactly the part we take over as your Kubernetes service provider – from the first cluster to permanent operation.

01

Our Kubernetes consulting begins with an honest question: do you need Kubernetes at all? For a single web application, a well-configured server with Docker is often cheaper and easier to run. Kubernetes plays to its strengths when several services are delivered independently of one another, load peaks have to be absorbed or teams regularly release new versions. If it fits, we plan the provider, cluster size, network and permission concept and describe the infrastructure as code with Terraform – traceable, versioned and reproducible.

02

In day-to-day operations, we work according to the GitOps principle: the desired state of all applications lives in a Git repository, and Argo CD makes sure the cluster matches it. Every change is documented and can be rolled back. Prometheus and Grafana monitor utilization and errors, and Velero backs up configuration and data. Since Kubernetes releases a new minor version about three times a year and older versions are supported only for a limited time, we schedule updates in advance, test them beforehand and roll them out without rush.

Scope of services

What we deliver for you

Consulting, setup and operation of Kubernetes clusters – with GitOps, monitoring, backups and scheduled version updates.

Kubernetes consulting & suitability check

We review your applications, team size and operating requirements and recommend Kubernetes only where it brings real benefits.

Cluster setup as code

Clusters, networking, storage and access rights are built with Terraform – versioned and, on request, with providers that have data centers in Germany.

Containers & Helm charts

Your applications get container images and Helm charts with sensible resource limits, health checks and autoscaling rules.

GitOps & CI/CD

With Argo CD and your pipeline in GitLab or GitHub, new versions are delivered automatically, traceably and with the option to roll back.

Monitoring, logging & backups

Prometheus, Grafana and central logs show the state of the cluster, and Velero backs up configuration and persistent data.

Updates & security maintenance

Scheduled Kubernetes updates, automatically renewed certificates, RBAC permissions, network policies and regularly updated container images.

Area

More from DevOps & CI/CD

Automated tests, builds and deployments – for faster releases and fewer outages in production.

Your benefits

Why companies choose us

No platform team of your own needed

You use Kubernetes without having to hire cluster operations specialists and keep them permanently busy.

Reliable releases

New versions go live automatically via GitOps and can be rolled back quickly if problems occur.

Scaling on demand

Resources grow with load peaks and are scaled back down in quiet periods.

No sprawl in the cluster

Infrastructure as code and clear permissions keep your cluster from turning into an undocumented black box.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Managed Kubernetes

With managed Kubernetes, a cloud provider operates the control plane of the cluster, meaning the central components that distribute and monitor containers. You still have to take care of nodes, applications, permissions, updates and monitoring – or hire a service provider to do it. That is exactly the operation we take over.

Depending on scope, consulting, the suitability check and an initial cluster setup fall under the Starter package from €2,500 or Professional from €8,000. Ongoing operations depend on the number of clusters and applications as well as the response times you want, and are quoted individually in the Enterprise package. On top of that come the infrastructure costs of the cloud provider you choose; the exact quote follows after the free initial consultation.

Yes. Several providers operate managed Kubernetes services in German data centers, including European providers such as STACKIT and IONOS as well as the large cloud providers with German regions. Which one fits depends on cost, features and your data protection requirements. The legal assessment is up to your data protection officer. This does not replace legal advice.

Not always. For a single website or application, a well-configured server with Docker is often cheaper and simpler. Kubernetes pays off above all with several services, frequent releases or highly fluctuating load – we clarify that in the suitability check.

A basic cluster with monitoring, backups and GitOps is often ready within a few weeks. How long the migration of your applications takes depends on whether they already run in containers. After the suitability check, you will receive a concrete schedule.

Yes. We review configuration, versions, permissions, resources and backups and document the current state. Then we stabilize the cluster, move the configuration into code wherever possible and take over day-to-day operations.
