Short & clear

A website can be converted into an app in two ways: as a progressive web app that is installed on the home screen directly from the browser, or as a store app in which the website is packaged into an app for iOS and Android with tools such as Capacitor and extended with native features. Nano Concepts first checks which route suits your website and takes the app store guidelines into account – Apple generally rejects plain website wrappers without added value. A PWA implementation is often possible in the Starter package from €2,500, store apps with native features in the Professional package from €8,000.

Convert website to app with Nano Concepts

Can you convert a website into an app? Yes – and often faster and cheaper than with a new development. When you convert your website into an app, content, functionality and design are preserved; added are an app icon, full-screen launch, caching for poor reception and, if you wish, push notifications. We first review your existing website – whether WordPress, online store or web application – and show you which of the two routes fits: a progressive web app or an app for the App Store and Google Play.

01

The fastest route is the progressive web app. A web app manifest and a service worker make your website installable: users tap “Add to Home Screen” and then launch the site like an app. On Android this works especially smoothly, and on the iPhone as well – with some limitations, for example for push notifications. Turning a website into an Android app also works via a Trusted Web Activity, which brings your PWA to the Google Play Store too, using the same content.

02

If your app is to be in the App Store, we package the website with Capacitor and add real app features such as push notifications, camera, Face ID login or offline content. This matters because Apple generally rejects apps that merely display a website. That is why we plan visible added value from the start and handle the store listings, submission and updates. This turns your website into an app that customers like to install – and that you keep maintaining centrally through the existing website.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Convert website to app

Yes. As a progressive web app, your website becomes installable and launches full-screen like an app. For the App Store and Google Play, we package the website into an app shell and add native features so that it meets the stores' guidelines.

Converting to a PWA is often possible in the Starter package from €2,500, provided the website already works well on mobile. We implement store apps with native features such as push, camera or biometric login in the Professional package from €8,000. You receive the exact quote after the free initial consultation and the website check.

With a technically solid website, a PWA can go live within a few weeks. For store apps, native features and the review by Apple and Google are added. You receive a schedule after the website check.

Users open the page in Safari, tap “Share” and then “Add to Home Screen”. For this to feel like a real app – with its own icon, full screen and offline capability – the website has to be prepared as a PWA. For the App Store, an app shell with real added value is needed in addition.

On Android, a PWA can be installed directly from the browser. For Google Play, we package it into an app via Trusted Web Activity or Capacitor that appears in the store and uses the same content.

Apple generally rejects apps that only display a website. That is why we plan features that create real added value – such as push notifications, offline content, camera or login features. Nobody can guarantee approval in advance, but we know the requirements and prepare the submission accordingly.
