Short & clear

An EDI integration exchanges business documents such as orders (ORDERS), advance shipping notices (DESADV) and invoices (INVOIC) in standardized formats like EDIFACT directly between the systems of trading partners. To do this, Nano Concepts connects your ERP or merchandise management system – for example Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP or an in-house development – to your partner's EDI channel, including mapping, validation and monitoring. Costs depend on partners and message types and follow the packages Starter from €2,500, Professional from €8,000 or Enterprise; the exact quote follows after the free initial consultation.

EDI integration with Nano Concepts

An EDI integration usually becomes an issue when a major customer demands it: the retail chain only wants to send orders electronically, the automotive manufacturer expects delivery call-offs via EDI, the wholesaler no longer accepts PDF invoices. We set up the EDI integration so that these messages arrive in your ERP automatically and replies – order confirmation, advance shipping notice, invoice – go back without manual work. The basis is your partner's interface specification, which defines exactly which fields are expected in which format.

01

Technically, there are two routes. Many companies use an EDI service provider that operates the connections to trading partners and translates messages into a uniform format – we then connect your ERP to that provider. With a few fixed partners, a direct connection via AS2 or SFTP can also make sense. We process formats such as EDIFACT and its retail subset EANCOM, VDA messages from the automotive industry or XML variants with a mapping that cleanly assigns item numbers, GTINs, units and delivery addresses.

02

Whether your ERP is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP or an in-house development: we check which interfaces it offers and build the processing so that faulty messages don't silently disappear. Every incoming order is checked against your master data, discrepancies land in a clarification list, and you can see at any time which message was received or sent and when. Once a connection is established, every additional trading partner is mostly a matter of mapping.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about EDI integration

Costs depend on how many trading partners and message types are connected and which interfaces your ERP offers. A connection to one partner with a few message types can start in the Starter package from €2,500, while several partners with orders, advance shipping notices and invoices are more likely in the Professional package from €8,000. Ongoing fees of an EDI service provider may come on top and are billed directly by that provider. You will receive the exact quote after the free initial consultation.

The development itself is often the smaller part. What matters is the test phase with your trading partner, whose duration also depends on the partner's processes. After reviewing the interface specification, we give you a realistic timeframe for development and partner testing.

The interface specification – often also called an EDI manual or implementation guide – defines which message types, fields and codes your trading partner expects. It is the most important basis for the mapping. It's best to send us this document as early as the initial consultation.

Yes. SAP usually processes EDI messages via IDocs; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers programming interfaces through which orders and documents can be exchanged. We check case by case which route is the most stable for your system and, if needed, coordinate with your ERP partner.

Not necessarily. With many trading partners using different formats, a service provider is often more economical because it handles connections and format conversions centrally. With a few fixed partners, a direct connection via AS2 or SFTP may be enough – we'll work through both options with you.

Under certain conditions, EDI procedures can meet the requirements for an e-invoice, and special rules also apply during transition periods. Please clarify with your tax advisor whether your procedure qualifies – technically, we implement the outcome. This note does not replace tax advice.
