Remote Hands Service: Your Hands On Site in the Data Center

When a server stops responding, a hard drive needs to be swapped or a patch cable re-plugged, someone has to be on site. Our remote hands technicians work to your instructions in data centers, server rooms or equipment rooms – deployed through our IT service partners and with response times by agreement (SLA).

Short & clear

Remote hands refers to on-site work on servers and network equipment in data centers or server rooms, carried out by a technician on behalf of a remote IT team – for example restarts, component swaps, cabling or visual inspection. Nano Concepts coordinates such assignments across Germany together with the IT service partners RELEDER and FAIMA IT Services, with response times set by agreement in the SLA. For one-off assignments and framework agreements, you receive an individual quote based on scope, locations and time windows.

Remote hands service with Nano Concepts

Remote hands services are the extended arms of your IT team: a technician stands in front of your rack in the data center, server room or equipment room and carries out what can't be done remotely. They restart a hung server at the push of a button, read status indicators, swap a failed hard drive or power supply, re-plug patch cables or connect a console so that your administrator regains access. We deliver these assignments together with our IT service partners RELEDER and FAIMA IT Services.

01

A distinction is often made between “remote eyes” and “remote hands”: with remote eyes, the technician checks on site and reports back, for example on status LEDs, cable assignments or labeling – including photos. With remote hands, they intervene on instruction, from restarting a device and swapping components to installing new equipment in the rack. For remote hands and eyes support, we agree access rules, contacts and escalation paths with you and the data center operator in advance, so the technician can work without delay in an emergency.

02

How quickly a technician is on site depends on location, time of day and agreement. That is why we don't promise blanket times but define response times and availability in the SLA – matching the importance of your systems. Every assignment is documented: what was done, which serial numbers were swapped, what does the rack look like afterward? Whether single assignments or a framework agreement for several locations, for example at the Frankfurt am Main data center hub and beyond – order intake and coordination run centrally through Nano Concepts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Remote hands service

Remote hands services are on-site tasks on IT hardware in data centers or server rooms, carried out by a technician on behalf of a remote IT team. Typical examples are restarts, hardware replacement, cabling, visual inspections and the installation of new devices. The technician works to your instructions and documents every step.

Costs depend on the type and duration of the assignment, the location, the time of day and the agreed response time. For one-off assignments and framework agreements, you receive an individual quote based on scope, locations and time windows. We discuss the calculation transparently in the free initial consultation.

With remote eyes, the technician checks on site and reports back, for example on status indicators, cable assignments or labeling. With remote hands, they actively intervene, for example during a restart or hardware swap. Many companies order both as remote hands and eyes support.

That depends on location, time of day and availability. We agree response times and assignment windows individually in the SLA and put them in writing – we don't make blanket promises.

Yes. Frankfurt am Main is one of the most important data center locations in Germany; we carry out assignments there with our partner teams on site. The same applies to data centers and server rooms at other locations in Germany.

As a rule, you or your manufacturer provide the spare parts and have them delivered to the site. By arrangement, either your team or we register access with the data center operator; we clarify the rules in advance so that the assignment doesn't fail at the reception desk.
