Employee App: Internal Communication That Reaches Everyone on Your Team

Notices and mass emails are far from reaching everyone – especially not in production, care, warehousing or on the construction site. Your own employee app brings information, documents and workflows straight to your team's smartphones.

Short & clear

An employee app is a company app for your own workforce that combines internal communication such as news, chat and surveys with work processes such as shift schedules, leave requests, forms and documents – especially for employees without a fixed computer workstation. Nano Concepts develops employee apps for iOS and Android or as a progressive web app, with login, roles and integration with existing systems. We usually implement them in the Professional package from €8,000; you receive the exact quote after the free initial consultation.

Employee app development with Nano Concepts

An employee app solves a problem many companies know: information reaches only the colleagues who have an email inbox and a desk. In production, warehouses, care, hospitality or field service, mass emails go unread and notices go unnoticed. An app for company communication brings news, surveys and important documents straight to the smartphone – with push notifications, read receipts and, if you wish, in several languages, so that every team member really understands what it is about, whether in the office, on the shop floor or on the road.

01

The real added value arises when the app does not just inform but makes work easier. Typical features are shift schedules and shift swaps, leave and sick notifications, digital checklists and forms, damage reports with photos, an internal phone directory or onboarding content for new employees. Because we develop the app individually, your team gets exactly these features – without the ballast of an off-the-shelf solution and, as a rule, without license fees that rise with every new person. Your administration also saves itself paperwork and follow-up questions.

02

Employee apps have different requirements than customer apps. What matters is a simple, secure login, including for staff without a company email address; clear roles per location and department; and a well-thought-out approach to private and company devices. From developing an app for service technicians with offline synchronization, we know these requirements from practice. If company devices are to be set up, distributed and managed through mobile device management, our IT service partners RELEDER and FAIMA IT Services take care of that.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Employee app development

We usually implement an employee app with login, news, push notifications and an admin area in the Professional package from €8,000. A lean start as a progressive web app may be possible in the Starter package from €2,500. We quote extensive apps with shift planning, many interfaces and multiple locations individually in the Enterprise package – after the free initial consultation.

Depending on scope, a first version with the most important features can be ready for a pilot group after a few weeks to a few months. App store review and data protection coordination may add to that. You receive a realistic schedule after the initial consultation.

Ready-made communication apps are quick to introduce but are usually billed per user and map your own workflows only to a limited extent. A custom employee app pays off when you want to integrate processes such as shift planning, forms or connections to your own systems, or when you have many users. We compare both routes with you openly.

That is your decision. The app can be used on company devices, voluntarily on private smartphones or as a web app in the browser. With private devices, voluntariness, data protection and, where applicable, co-determination play a role – have this reviewed from an employment law perspective. This does not replace legal advice.

For example, through personal invitation codes, a mobile phone number or a QR code handed over by the manager. If company accounts already exist, for instance through Microsoft 365, single sign-on is also possible.

Yes, together with our IT service partners RELEDER and FAIMA IT Services. They handle device setup and rollout – with mobile device management if you wish – while we develop and maintain the app.
