Marketplace Development – The Platform Between Providers and Customers

A marketplace only works if both sides have a reason to stay: providers need inquiries, customers need choice and trust. We develop marketplaces where listings, booking, payment and commission work together seamlessly – and which you, as the operator, keep firmly under control at all times.

Short & clear

Marketplace development means building an online platform on which many providers list products or services and customers find, book and pay for them, while the operator earns a commission. Nano Concepts develops provider profiles, search and filters, inquiry or booking flows, split payments (for example via Stripe Connect), reviews, moderation and reporting for the operator. We usually implement marketplaces as Enterprise projects with individual quotes, focused first versions in the Professional package from €8,000 – the exact quote follows after the free initial consultation.

Marketplace development with Nano Concepts

If you want to have a marketplace developed, you are building a business between two sides: providers list products, services or appointments, customers search, compare and buy or book – and you earn a fee on every transaction. Technically, that means: provider registration with vetting, profiles and listings, search with filters, an inquiry or booking flow, payment processing with commission and payout, reviews, messaging and an admin area for moderation and reporting. We build these components so that they map your business model – whether it is a B2B marketplace for spare parts, a matching platform for tradespeople or a booking platform for regional experiences.

01

The biggest hurdle for a new marketplace is rarely the technology, but the chicken-and-egg problem: without listings, no customers come; without customers, no providers. That is why we plan with you which side to win first and build exactly the right tools for it – such as an import for existing listings, invitation links for providers or a single region as the launch market. We also define the revenue model early: commission per sale, fee per listing, subscription for providers or a combination. Payment flow, invoices and reporting follow from it.

02

As soon as money flows between customer, provider and operator, things get demanding. With Stripe Connect, we split payments automatically, have providers verified by the payment service provider during registration and pay out balances according to fixed rules – without customer payments having to run through your own business account. Trust comes from verified profiles, reviews after a real transaction, reporting functions and clear moderation workflows. We prepare platform obligations, for example under the Digital Services Act, the EU P2B Regulation or regarding trader information, on the technical side; you clarify the legal assessment with your legal counsel, as this note does not replace legal advice.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Marketplace development

A multi-vendor marketplace is a platform on which many independent providers sell their products or services under one roof. The operator provides the technology, rules, payment processing and reach and receives a commission or fee in return. To customers, everything feels like a single store, even though orders and payouts are distributed across several providers in the background.

A marketplace is one of the more extensive software projects because two user groups, payment flows and moderation come together. A focused first version for one launch market starts in the Professional package from €8,000; full marketplaces with apps, interfaces or multiple countries are quoted individually as Enterprise projects. Your exact quote follows after the free initial consultation, in which we sharpen the model and launch scope together.

The duration depends mainly on the revenue model, the payment flow and the number of features at launch. We plan the launch in stages: first the provider side, so that listings already exist at public launch, then the customer side. You receive a realistic schedule as soon as model and scope are fixed in the prototype.

We use solutions such as Stripe Connect for this: the customer pays once, the payment is automatically split into the provider's share and your commission, and providers receive their payout according to defined rules. The identity verification of providers is handled by the payment service provider. Refunds, cancellations and credits are mapped in the admin area.

It cannot be prevented entirely, but you can make the route via the platform more attractive. This includes payment protection, reviews only after a real booking, tools for providers such as calendars and automatic invoices, and contact details that are only revealed after a confirmed booking. The more value the platform offers both sides, the less often it is bypassed.

Depending on their design, marketplaces are subject to special rules, for example under the Digital Services Act, the EU P2B Regulation, regarding provider and trader information, and under consumer law. We implement the technical building blocks for this, including reporting channels, mandatory provider information, notices on the ranking of search results and logs. Which obligations apply to your platform specifically, please clarify with your legal counsel – this note does not replace legal advice.
