Short & clear

An accessible website can be used fully with a screen reader, with a keyboard alone, at high magnification or with color vision deficiency; the benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at conformance level AA. Nano Concepts audits existing sites or builds new ones to be accessible – compact sites usually in the Starter package from €2,500, shops and portals in the Professional package from €8,000. Whether the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) applies to your offering depends on the individual case. This assessment does not replace legal advice.

Accessible website design with Nano Concepts

Creating an accessible website means that everyone can perceive, operate and understand your content – including people who use a screen reader, navigate with the keyboard alone, rely on strong magnification or have color vision deficiency. The benchmark is the WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines of the W3C, in practice at conformance level AA. For new websites we apply these criteria from the very beginning, and we rework existing sites in a targeted way: from heading structure, alternative text and labeled form fields to visible keyboard focus and sufficient contrast.

01

The German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has applied in Germany since June 28, 2025. Among other things, it covers e-commerce services – that is, websites and apps through which consumers enter into contracts, such as online stores or booking flows. Microenterprises that provide services are exempt from these requirements; purely informational company websites without any contract conclusion generally do not fall under it. Technically, the EN 301 549 standard serves as the benchmark, and it refers to the WCAG. If you are in doubt whether the obligation applies to your website, have it reviewed by a legal professional. Our assessment does not replace legal advice.

02

Accessibility pays off even without a legal obligation. A clean semantic structure helps search engines and AI search tools understand your content correctly, clear forms reduce drop-offs, and readable text convinces older customers just as much as anyone reading on a smartphone on the go. Because design and development at LOMA DESIGN and Nano Concepts come from one team, accessibility is not bolted on afterward but built into color choices, layout and code. At the end, you receive an audit report covering every point we implemented.

Typical signs that Accessible website design is worth it

  • Your website can't be fully operated without a mouse, or the keyboard focus isn't visible.
  • Consumers enter into contracts through your website – such as orders, bookings or subscriptions – and you want to be prepared for the BFSG.
  • Light gray text, text in images or form fields without labels characterize your current site.

  • A relaunch is coming up and you want to plan accessibility in from the start instead of retrofitting it at great expense later.
Scope of services

What we deliver for you

Websites that work with keyboard, screen reader and magnification – built to WCAG, as a new build or a rebuild.

Accessibility check of your website

We test your existing site both automatically and manually with a keyboard and screen reader, and document every barrier with its location and priority.

Semantic structure & navigation

A clean heading hierarchy, landmarks, skip links and a logical focus order make sure every page can be operated without a mouse.

Accessible design with LOMA DESIGN

Colors, font sizes and spacing are chosen so that contrast meets the WCAG requirements and information is never conveyed by color alone.

Forms without hurdles

Labeled fields, understandable error messages and hints that screen readers read aloud – so contact, booking and ordering work for everyone.

Alternative text & media

Meaningful alternative text for images, captions or transcripts for videos, and sliders that can be paused and controlled by keyboard.

Audit report & accessibility information

You receive documentation of the criteria implemented and, on request, a draft text for the accessibility information on your website.

Your benefits

Why companies choose us

Reach more people

People with visual, hearing or motor impairments, as well as older users, can use your offering and get in touch without outside help.

A solid foundation for the BFSG

If the law applies to your offering, the implementation follows the WCAG criteria that the EN 301 549 standard refers to. It does not replace a legal review of your individual case.

Easier for search engines to read

Semantic HTML, clear headings and alternative text help Google and AI search tools classify your content correctly.

Planned in from the start

Because design and code come from one team, barriers don't have to be removed later at great expense.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Accessible website design

The BFSG has applied since June 28, 2025, among other things to e-commerce services, i.e. websites and apps through which consumers enter into contracts. Microenterprises with fewer than ten employees and annual turnover or an annual balance sheet total of no more than €2 million are exempt where they provide services; public bodies are subject to their own rules, such as the German accessibility ordinance BITV 2.0. Whether your website is affected depends on the individual case. This does not replace legal advice.

For private companies, the key law is the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), through which Germany implements the European Accessibility Act. For the technical implementation, the EN 301 549 standard is the benchmark, and it refers to the WCAG criteria at level AA. In addition, the BFSG requires information on how your offering meets the requirements. This does not replace legal advice.

The key points: all functions can be reached by keyboard, the focus is visible, regular text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, images have alternative text and form fields are labeled. In addition come a logical heading structure, captions for videos and content that stays fully usable at 200% zoom. A checklist is no substitute for testing with real assistive technology such as screen readers.

A new accessible company website, or the rebuild of a compact site, usually falls under the Starter package from €2,500. We price shops, booking flows or portals with many templates and forms under the Professional package from €8,000, and large platforms individually as an Enterprise project. You receive the exact quote after the free initial consultation and a first review of your site.

That depends mainly on whether we build on existing code or develop from scratch. An initial audit shows how many templates and components are affected; from that we create a schedule with fixed milestones. If a relaunch is coming up anyway, it is usually more efficient to plan accessibility into the new website right away.

Overlay tools that use a script to show switches for font size or contrast usually don't fix the root causes: missing labels, a faulty structure or menus that can't be operated remain in the code. That is why we implement accessibility directly in the design and the source code. This is more sustainable, and it can be verified transparently with testing tools.
